London-based with some remote working.

VP of Technology
We’re driven by something bigger than any one of us
The world is changing and it’s changing fast. Even if our greatest carbon reduction aspirations are realised, we’re still going to see the impacts of climate change with more frequent and severe extreme weather events. Events like floods, heatwaves, wildfires, droughts, and storms will impact us all in different ways. You’ve probably experienced some of those effects first-hand already, or have seen stories in the news.
The better we can anticipate them, the more prepared we’ll be. This side of the climate change agenda is often called climate adaptation or climate resilience. And that’s what we focus our efforts on here at Climate X.
Climate change impacts everything that exists on this planet, no matter how big or how small. Through our products we’re able to help governments, financial institutions and businesses around the world understand what that means for them - in unprecedented detail. The positive impact we can have will not only be global but also, uniquely, multi-generational.

Diversity matters
We really care about diversity and inclusion. Solving a global problem means representing as many voices from as many backgrounds, communities, and beliefs as we can within our own company.
That should happen across all parts of the business and across all levels of seniority. Our internal survey showed 100% of the team felt they were empowered to bring their true selves to work – we’re extremely proud of that.
No matter your background, where you’re from, what you look like, who you love, or how you identify – as long as you share our values, believe in our vision for the future and have humility, you’ll be welcomed and respected!
Working for Climate X
We’re obsessed over building a world-class experience for everyone who joins the team. You’ll be proud to tell people where you work and the impact you’re having. You’ll be surrounded by the brightest minds, in a fast-paced environment, as we build something truly special and necessary for the world.
As a company and leadership team member, we’ll double down on our investment in you – making sure you have the conditions needed to succeed. That means funding, autonomy, a voice so you know your ideas are heard, and the ownership of something that really matters in helping to deliver on our mission.
Reporting directly to Climate X’s CEO and working closely with the Chief Product Officer.
The role will be London-based with some scope for remote working part of the time. We’re looking for the best talent from wherever you are in the world and will sponsor visas and relocation costs for the right candidate.

What you’ll own
We hire people who are smarter than us to help move the company forward to a better future than where we’d be on our own.
We’re looking for an experienced technical expert to join our leadership team - we’ll share more details about what we’re looking for as part of initial conversations, and will be open to your input too:
- A technical person who will make sure the code-base for our databases, online platforms and APIs
- are robust and can scale over time,
- operate with speed and efficiency, and
- built with security and data protection in mind
- The ability to build, oversee and inspire a world-class team of engineers to deliver world-class products
- Velocity matters to you, and you’ll find intuitive ways to solve short-term problems whilst balancing longer-term objectives
- You’ll convert strategic ambitions into technological reality, and help to define, prioritise, and realise the product roadmap
- Whilst you’ll be able to zoom out and think about strategy to defining a longer-term roadmap/deliverables, you’ll be equally comfortable working on code
To maximise chances of succeeding in this role
- Experience as a VP of Technology, CTO, or similar role, ideally with experience in a high performing/high velocity start-up or tech company with a track record of delivering successful outcomes
- Deep knowledge of full-stack modern development practices (e.g. DevOps, CI/CD)
- A skillset aligned with our Tech Stack (AWS Cloud, Postgres, Python, SQL, React)
- Experience managing and optimising budgets
